John Gonzales successfully made the transition from the United States Marine Corps to civilian life, but when he had a hernia, things got tough. The pain he felt was intense, and he had so much difficulty managing it that he turned to illegal drugs.

John knew his life was heading in the wrong direction. He was one step away from living on the street and would need a lot of help getting back on his feet. Fortunately for John, someone he knew recognized that he was in bad shape and referred him to OPCS.

“OPCS helped me get in the right direction and get my life together,” John says. “They’re really great, and everything’s looking more positive for me. I’m happy with the outcome. I’m a very lucky person.”
